Ho Harvey Ho!

Normally I love Mondays. Monday is my parental leave day. It belongs to me and Little Man. It’s a day we spend playing, meeting our mammy and baby group friends, and going to the playground.

Today was a little different because I had to wait for a delivery. Our fridge spluttered and died on Thursday night so we went shopping on Friday for a new one. The saleswoman in Harvey Normans guaranteed it would be here Monday. She also promised I’d get a call early in the morning to arrange a delivery window. Now Little Man makes sure my day starts at 6am at the latest so I know early means something a little different to me than to other people. But calling me at 10.40 am to tell me my delivery window is from 2-5pm is not early.

So my morning was gone waiting for a call. And then of course my afternoon was gone because I couldn’t leave and miss my window. I would probably have taken all of this in my stride except for one thing – Little Man didn’t nap this afternoon. He has just fallen asleep now for the first time since 10am. And he has wanted to sleep since around 12.30. So he has been so cranky all day…it’s amazing how constant whinging can make the walls close in on you. I tried everything to get him to nap. Even tried a bottle of warm milk out of desperation at around 3pm but no joy. And the poor little guy – every time I’d ask him if he wanted to go to sleep, he’d nod his head. But he just couldn’t seem to sleep.

At 5pm there was still no fridge so I called the delivery guy. He said they were delayed due to the bad weather but not to worry, they would definitely get to me tonight. 45 minutes later he called back to say sorry. All deliveries cancelled. I could have cried. I almost did.

Thank God tomorrow is hubbie’s parental leave day, so I will be able to leave the house at some stage regardless of whether the delivery arrives or not. I’m not holding out much hope. The snow is coming down pretty heavy outside.
