Loving the local library

Loving the local library

He's behind you!

Yesterday was another rainy, windy day (don’t you love May in Ireland!), so rather than sit in the house all day, we paid a visit to our local library with Little Man. We’ve been lots of times before, but in the past month, Little Man has really started to show an interest in books. I think it’s since he’s become interested in learning to talk. Suddenly all those words and pictures in the books are starting to really capture his imagination. As I mentioned in my recent review of the Happy Baby Board books, reading is one of his favourite activities at the moment.

I’m so impressed with the setup in our local library. The children’s books are kept in a mezzanine, away from the “grown-up” section, so we don’t have to worry too much if Little Man wants to explore – he can do so without interrupting anyone. In the back corner of the children’s section of the library, the walls are decorated with colourful murals, and there are low chairs perfect for toddlers and young children. There’s a soft playmat for babies, great for parents with a baby and an older child who wish to spend some time in the library.

Little Man loves to spend some time exploring the low bookshelves, which are full of board books and picture books, before picking a suitable story, and snuggling in beside his favourite library inhabitant to read a few pages!

  1. Ahh, so sweet! Big monkey is listening what is your little man reading!! :)) This is the greatest section in the local library – The kids sections. (Not like the adults one, you can browse here for hours, be amazed by the modern authors and find books you’ve read in your childhood!!!

  2. Looks like he is really enjoying himself
